The eighth and final episode of the series ‘DNA of leadership – Perspectives on leadership’: the conversation with Onno Hamburger.

Onno is the founder of happy working in the Netherlands. He has been working on this subject since 2003, when ‘happiness’ and ‘work’ were still seen as almost incompatible concepts. His book ‘Happy Working’ (from 2011, written with Ad Bergsma) is a classic among management books. For example, a practical handbook has been written to get started with happy working right away.

We will discuss leadership, and that it mainly starts with yourself. That leaders inspire and ‘seduce’, for example by using their own experience. About the importance of the ‘dot of the horizon’ and to show that you really stand for it as a leader. Onno explains how changes can be successfully introduced, also in his own work when organizations start working happily. By making use of the intrinsic motivation within organizations and using specific resources that work there in a very targeted way. Which literally makes that organization happy. Instead of a generic plan of action.

Onno makes a passionate plea that we should recognize the differences between people and organizations. That people and organizations flourish when leaders see that and start working with it.

I wish you a lot of fun and inspiration with this episode!
