It is with great pleasure that I hereby introduce the fourth episode in the eight-part series ‘DNA of leadership – Perspectives on leadership’.

For this episode, I talked to @Lars van Tuin. As a coach, he “guides conversations”, as he calls it, between management and their organizations. And he is also a researcher in the field of motivation. In 2020, Lars obtained his PhD on this subject at Utrecht University. In the conversation, Lars discusses the basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence and connectedness in detail. Why many work environments don’t meet these basic needs. And the way in which leaders could give substance to this, and what the enormous impact of the right leadership is. What leaders do and shouldn’t do. Or as Lars puts it: ‘Stop motivating, your people are already motivated’. A fascinating perspective on leadership that we can all use. More information about Lars and his work can be found at https://larsvantuin.nl

My mission is to contribute to the discussion about leadership for today and tomorrow. Share the episode in your network if the podcast series appeals to you, thank you very much!

This was the last episode in 2022, in January we will continue with the remaining episodes in this series.

Happy holidays and to an inspiring 2023!
